Super Bowl Halftime Show Had A Bit Of A Midtown Vibe

Bruno Mars and his band put on an amazing halftime show at last night’s Super Bowl. From the opening (spectacular) drum solo to the closing notes of the beautiful “Just The Way You Are,” and all the cool dance moves in between, Mars’s high energy performance was just what the audience needed after a snoozer of a first half of football!

When I first heard that Mars would be the half time entertainment this year, I was pretty excited. I mean, come on, The Midtown Men had played a private event with him recently – how impressive is that? And I can’t help but think that maybe Bruno was just a little impressed with The Midtown Men, too. Let’s look at the similarities: there was certainly a little “throw back” vibe to the music, all the way back to 60s Motown. And how about those suits? The glittery gold, skinny lapel and tie look taken straight out of the 60s, and except for the glitter, straight from The Midtown Men’s wardrobe! Having the band similarly attired, and performing those cool, choreographed dance moves was a direct reference to acts from The Temptations to the Four Tops to, dare we say it, The Midtown Men!

I agree – definitely time for an anniversary party!! And I do think Bruno learned a couple of moves from the Midtown Men!!

The halftime show saved the evening! Who ever made the call to go in the direction of having a 60’s flair was brilliant. Loved it! It definitely works…how long have the Midtown Men been performing together now? Hmmm…may be time for an anniversary party or something.
