Daniel Reichard Talks About The Journey from Gaudio to Midtown Men

• November 14, 2015 • Comments (0)

We want people to laugh and smile and feel wonderful emotions in an experience of an era of music. DR

The Midtown Men play Milwaukee’s Marcus Center this Friday night.  In anticipation of the event, Daniel Reichard shared what it was like being the first to play Bob Gaudio on Broadway and how the four men have come to tour as The Midtown Men.  Following is an excerpt from the Examiner.  Click here to read the interview in its entirety.

EC: I don’t even know how to begin asking about originating a role on Broadway, but what was it like being the first to play Bob Gaudio on Broadway and how has that changed your life?

DR: It’s incredible … you just feel lucky. But then to do what we’ve done as far as creating Midtown Men- I’m even more proud of doing Midtown Men than I am of doing “Jersey Boys” and it’s because it’s something that we’ve created from our own experiences- we choreographed it together, we produced it together, we’ve directed it together, we picked our own suits together, we’ve overseen every creative decision surrounding this and it really is a reflection of who we are as a quartet…. So we took this little dream and we ran with it.

EC: What do you hope audiences get from seeing The Midtown Men?

DR: I hope that people truly get an evening of their lives when they come see us where they get to turn of the screens on their iPhones, turn off the TVs and enjoy live music. Whether they grew up to these songs or they’re young people hearing these songs for the first time, they get to forget all of the things going on outside- all the chaos of our world. We want people to laugh and smile and feel wonderful emotions in a experience of an era of music.

The Midtown Men perform one night only at Milwaukee’s Marcus Center on Friday, November 20 at 8 pm. Tickets are available online or by calling 414-273-7206.

‘Jersey Boys’ Celebrating 10 Years on Broadway

• November 4, 2015 • Comments (2)

Congratulations to Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer and Michael Longoria as they prepare to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Jersey Boys on Broadway! JB joins an elite group of shows that made it 10 years on the Great White Way, including Phantom of the Opera, Chorus Line and Wicked!  And we all know that if you can make it 10 years there, you can make it 10 years anywhere, right Midtown Men?

Actors, Writers, Directors, Producers and Fans will gather this weekend to pay tribute to this amazing show that gave birth to our beloved Midtown Men.  Many of us “Midtown Clubbers” have a story from the early days, when it was all still ahead of them, and us.  If you have a story, please share it here in comments, and if you have a picture to go with that story, email it to me at and I will share it here on the Club site.

The Midtown Men… Ready to take the Weidner (and Wisconsin) by Storm

• October 3, 2015 • Comments (0)

Daniel Reichard took some time to tell Patrick Mares (of the Scene – Northeast Wisconsin’s monthly arts and entertainment newspaper) how The Midtown Men got where they are today and why it’s worth your time to check them out when they swing by the Green Bay Weidner Center on October 27.

Here is an excerpt from that interview:

SCENE: Give us a pitch. Tell us why our readers need a little Midtown Men in their lives.

Daniel R: I look out over our audiences every day. And I’ve seen them transform over the course of an evening. I see their bodies change and their faces change and their expressions light up. Our show is a nice escape from the tough world these days. You’re going to hear a broad range of songs, so it’s a full course meal as far as music from the 1960’s. We like to think of ourselves as striving to be a modern day Rat Pack. Guys that dress up in nice suits, goof around a lot, but when it comes time to sing, we really give it all we’ve got. And that’s what people can expect. It’s an old-fashioned show business experience.

There are three opportunities to see The Midtown Men this month in Wisconsin:  Oct 27 in Green Bay, Oct 28 in Wausau, and Oct 29 in Madison.  Follow the links for ticket information.

Sold-Out Mohegan Sun Crowd Welcomes The Midtown Men

• July 26, 2015 • Comments (0)

Last night, Saturday, July 25th, The Midtown Men took a break from their summer vacation to play to a “sold-out and enthusiastic audience” at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino. Pat Abdalla was on hand and had this to say about the show:

Midtown men take sold-out casino crowd back to the ’60s

by PAT ABDALLA,, Published: July 26, 2015 (excerpts – click here to read story in its entirety)

J. Robert Spencer sat on a stool and, introducing the song he was about to sing, explained he’d heard the Beatles’ classic “In My Life” in a new way recently. He talked about how people move into and out of our lives, and he appreciated that fact in a new way as a husband and father, which gave the song a deeper meaning to him.

Then Spencer, who came to fame singing classic songs in the Broadway hit “Jersey Boys” and currently as a member of the Midtown Men, leaned back and sang the opening lyrics, “There are places I remember …”

Spencer and his bandmates — Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria and Daniel Reichard — brought the sold-out and enthusiastic audience back to the places of their childhood on a tour through the ’60s on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

The Midtown Men hit all the right notes, from the pop hits of bands like The Mamas & the Papas to the protest songs of groups like Buffalo Springfield to some of Motown’s biggest classics……

…Throughout the show, they took turns introducing each other to the audience, talked about touring the country and their love of ’60s music.

Longoria, who bounds about the stage like a mix of Valli and Bruno Mars, was self-deprecating.

“I can fit in your purse,” the diminutive singer said.

Reichard, who is sporting a new beard, stole the show with a rousing and heart-felt rendition of “Cry For Me” and a rollicking “Good Lovin.’” Both got audience members heads bobbing and received a loud ovation.

Hoff’s rendition of “For What It’s Worth” was powerful.

Spencer’s soulful baritone also connected with the crowd, particularly on “In My Life” and “California Dreamin.’” …

Daniel Reichard Celebrated His Birthday in High Style

• June 23, 2015 • Comments (8)

The Midown Club would like to extend belated Happy Birthday wishes to Daniel Reichard, who celebrated his birthday on June 20th with a few of his closest friends.

I was thrilled to be on hand for the celebration – Best Birthday Party Ever!

Fortunately for me, Daniel is a selfie master.

Sandy Hicks played a huge role in planning the celebration.

Petula Clark dropped by to see the birthday boy.

Daniel happily shared his birthday celebration with "LaLa" Brooks - after all, it was her birthday, too

Daniel was even allowed to perform - and perform he did! "Cry For Me" was definitely a crowd favorite.

I can’t imagine any better place to celebrate a birthday – hope you enjoyed it, Daniel.  I know the estimated 2,000 people in attendance did!

One Fan’s Take on Daniel Reichard’s “professionally phenomenal performance”

• December 17, 2014 • Comments (1)

Written by Fan Correspondent Anthony Gigli:

Birdland is the classic venue for the depth and flawlessness of Daniel’s voice. He was joined by Elad Kabilio and Amy Connolly. He intertwined the classics of the Holiday season with funny banter as well as witty, funny memories of Christmas growing up in his large Irish catholic family. His gorgeous gray suit, bow tie, dancing and ravishly awesome red shoes all made us feel, as he alluded early in the show, as if we were going to a Decked Out party at his apartment. Boscoe made a special appearance as well! My own personal highlight was when he resorted to his training, he said from the stage, after the microphone unexpectedly went out during an amazing version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – he carried on without missing a beat.

Decked Out is the theme of the show and Daniel certainly put on a professionally phenomenal performance backed by an amazing group of musicians led by Jesse Vargas.

After last night, my personal wish is to make this a yearly tradition to come to NYC for Daniel’s annual Holiday show!

For the seventh time, Broadway and concert hall star Daniel Reichard (Jersey Boys, The Midtown Men, New York City Opera’s Candide) will perform his solo holiday show in New York City. This year’s concert is entitled “Daniel Reichard’s Decked Out Holiday Party” and will deck the halls of Birdland Jazz Club on December 14th at 6 PM and 15th at 7 PM.

This year, patrons are invited to be his guest at a joyous, seasonal celebration. Festive, dressy, or “decked out” attire is suggested. Backed by a seven-piece band of first-rate musicians, Reichard will present favorite songs from past Christmas shows, and will introduce many new numbers. Traditional Christmas standards, Hanukkah classics, and non-holiday songs alike will be presented. NY1’s Roma Torre has described previous editions of the show as “an instant rush of holiday spirit. Reichard reclaims the pure magic of Christmas.

Reichard’s special guest, accomplished Israeli cellist, Elad Kabilio will drop by the party, and the evening will be musically directed by Jesse Vargas.

Every year, Reichard donates all of his proceeds to a different charitable organization. For this edition, all proceeds will go to cellist Kabilio’s MusicTalks, a not-for-profit that offers educational concerts with opportunities for participation and conversation that reach children and adults alike, while developing community outreach programs intended to bring music to new audiences.

For reservations to “Daniel Reichard’s Decked Out Holiday Party,” call (212) 581-3080 or click here.   Tickets are $30 to $50, and there is a $10 food and drink minimum. Birdland is located at 315 West 44th St New York, NY, 10036.

• October 25, 2014 • Comments (0)

Daniel Reichard has been proud to watch the “Jersey Boys” mature into the Midtown Men.

“It’s been incredible,” Reichard said of the rise of the Midtown Men.

“This started out as a little project to see if we can tell our story and sing some songs and put people in the theater. I didn’t expect it to last so long. Now, we work for ourselves and we have our own company. We decide how we do our shows.”

Reichard, a pianist and concert singer, grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from University of Michigan.

“U-M’s School of Music is such an incredible school,” he said. “Many of my classmates have found great success in theater and TV. My years in Ann Arbor were very good and I made some lifelong friends.”

Showtime for Midtown Men is 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $75, $60, $45 and $25. For more information, visit or call 586-268-3200.
